We're back from Oregon, back from a just about perfect vacation. We visited Will's Mom, Carmen, and his grandfather in Westport, outside of Portland. Mostly, we rested; I started and finished 2 books.
And we ate. Carmen is a phenomenal cook. The baby and I ate exceptionally well, probably better than we have this whole pregnancy. Many of the ingredients came out of their kitchen garden.
Will and I took a day and drove into Portland. We toured around -- went to Powell's, to my favorite neighborhood (which had a house for sale in our price range!), and to the huge park with the rose garden that overlooks downtown. Will had never really visited Portland, but now he loves it as much as I do. Soon we're going to start looking for jobs up there again. (How soon? I think Will's looking as I type, but I'm going to wait until after the baby's born.)
We went to the Dahlia Festival, in Canby. Carmen grows dahlias all along the fence in her backyard. I had no idea there was such variety in dahlias -- from little ones that look like dandelions and daisies to huge ones the size of dinner plates that remind me of fireworks. Will and I found a couple we really like, but dahlias will have to wait for our next house.
The last night, we stayed with Will's cousin Cindy and her daughter Sarah, and met Cindy's friend Tom and his daughter Tara. Sarah's an artist too, so Will and Sarah stayed up late playing with the art equipment he brought up. And Cindy gave us two bags full of Sarah's baby clothes.

We had a fat little earthquake last night, a 4.5, no damage, but I could really feel the baby moving during the quake; I don't know if she was reacting to the quake itself, or to me.

I think I may have felt the baby yesterday. I've been feeling ... things ... but nothing I could say for certain was the baby, until yesterday.
Yup, I'm pretty sure she kicked me in the bladder.
